March 26, 2009 Atlanta Thrashers starting goalie Kari Lethonen was injured during a game against the New York Rangers. For the next game Johan Hedberg was handed the reigns in goal. Top prospect Ondrej Pavelec, who would have normally been recalled, was left in the AHL to help the Chicago Wolves try and defend their Calder Cup title. "Danny Turple’s been in our organization for a while and deserves at least a look-see up here. That was our thought process. Pavs is playing very well in Chicago, and we don’t think we really need to upset the apple cart unless he’s the guy that’s going to go in," said coach John Anderson. On April 5th they decided it was time to recall Pavelec and so, after three games, Dan Turple's NHL career was over. (1)

Turple was drafted by the Thrashers in 2004 and later signed with the team. In his last season of junior hockey with the OHL's Kitchener Rangers Tuple posted the best GAA(2.25) and best SVS%(.924) in the league.
