The Vancouver Canucks ended the 2020/21 season with a doubleheader against the Calgary Flames. Thatcher Demko was to start on May 18th while Braden Holtby was set to finish the season on the 19th. Already out of the playoffs, the Canucks decided to rest Holtby entirely on the 18th and recalled Silovs from the taxi squad to backup Demko.
Thatcher Demko missed the final three games of the 2021/22 NHL season with a minor injury. Spencer Martin took his place as starter and Silovs was recalled to dress as Martin's backup.
