When Cam Talbot was sidelined with an injury, the Edmonton Oilers recalled Nick Ellis to dress as backup to Laurent Brossoit. Ellis had signed with the Oilers as a free agent after having played for Providence College. In a surprise decision, Ellis actually retired at the end of the season after just two years of professional hockey.
