Daniel Larsson

3 NHL Games

November 12, 2009 Detroit Red Wings vs Vancouver Canucks. 3-1 win.
November 14, 2009 Detroit Red Wings vs Anaheim Ducks. 7-4 win.
November 18, 2009 Detroit Red Wings vs Dallas Stars. 1-3 loss.

Swedish goalie Daniel Larsson was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 2006 and signed with the team May, 2008. He had a strong resume before coming to North America. Larsson was named Eliteserien's 2008 goalie and rookie of the year.

Daniel Larsson was recalled by the Red Wings in November, 2009 because Chris Osgood came down with a case of the flu. Larsson dressed as Jimmy Howard's backup for a three game period until Osgood was healthy enough to return. For Larsson, the recall was bittersweet because his dream was to play. "You want to be out there playing, but still, it has to be the right way for my development," Larsson said. "It was good to get some good experience up here and see how it is during the regular season. You see a lot of different situations and how they play here compared to the AHL. I haven't seen many games live, so it's good to be up here and see what's going on." (1)

After just two seasons in North America, Larsson saw his NHL dream fading and decided to return to Sweden. "They wanted me in the AHL (for) at least another year, but I felt that the two seasons was enough,'' Larsson was quoted as saying. (1)
